Préparation

  1. Choose and prepare the sauce

    • Pick your sauce: pasta sauce, apple sauce, barbecue sauce, tomato sauce or salsa.
    • For travel and outdoor adventures, salsa works great.
    Étape 1
  2. Spread on the tray

    • Dump the sauce onto a dehydrator tray.
    • Spread it into a thin, even layer.
    Étape 2
  3. Dehydrate overnight

    • Put the tray in the dehydrator.
    • Dehydrate at 135°F (57°C) overnight until the sauce is leathery, not sticky.
    Étape 3
  4. Store

    • Put the sauce leather in airtight mason jars for long-term storage.
    • Transfer to ziploc bags when traveling.
    Étape 4
  5. Rehydrate and serve

    • Eat the leather on its own like fruit leather.
    • Or rip it up and mix with hot water to rehydrate.
    • Or rehydrate in a pot with food to make an easy one-pot meal, perfect with rice and pasta dishes on the trail.
