How to save a TikTok recipe and actually find it when you cook

TikTok's Save button isn't enough: the recipe is in the video, not in your favorites. Here's how to extract it, file it, and actually cook it.

Why your TikTok favorites are useless in the kitchen

You save a video of creamy pasta. Three weeks later you open your favorites: 240 videos, no titles, no ingredients, a blurry thumbnail. You scroll, you can't find it, you order in.

The problem isn't you. TikTok files videos, not recipes. Quantities are said out loud, steps fly by in 20 seconds, and the caption rarely has the full list.

The manual method

If you want to stay app-free: pause the video, type the ingredients into Notes, add the link. It's reliable but takes five minutes per recipe, and nobody does it more than twice.

  • Open the video and read the whole caption: some creators put everything there.
  • Write down the ingredients with quantities, even rough ones.
  • Write the steps in order, with cooking times.
  • Paste the video link at the bottom of the note.

The Mezze method

From TikTok, tap Share then Mezze. The video gets analyzed: audio, on-screen text, caption. You get a card with ingredients, quantities, steps and time. You read it over, fix anything, and it's filed in your cookbook.

The difference is what comes next: portions adjust, ingredients go to your grocery list, and the recipe can be dropped into your weekly plan.
