Schritt für Schritt

Zubereitung

  1. Make the strawberry compote

    • Add the strawberries, vanilla extract, sugar and lemon juice to a saucepan.
    • Place over high heat until it simmers, then reduce to medium heat and cook for 15 minutes.
    • Stir in the corn starch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens.

  2. Thicken and chill the compote

    • Cook the compote a few more minutes until it coats the spoon.
    • Transfer to a bowl and let it cool completely in the fridge.

  3. Make the cake batter

    • Combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil and water in a mixing bowl.
    • Mix thoroughly until smooth and lump-free.

  4. Bake the cake

    • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
    • Bake at 325 °F until a skewer comes out clean.
    • Let the cake cool completely before decorating.

  5. Whip the frosting

    • Put the whole can of vanilla frosting in a mixing bowl.
    • Add the vanilla extract and the sifted powdered sugar.
    • Whip with an electric mixer until light and creamy.

  6. Decorate

    • Spread the frosting over the cooled cake.
    • Top with the chilled strawberry compote and decorate as you like.
