paso a paso

Preparación

  1. Prepare the apples

    • Peel the apples, cut them in quarters and remove the core.
    • Cut them into even chunks so they cook softly and evenly.
    Paso 1
  2. Warm the pan

    • Melt the ghee in a saucepan over low heat.
    • Add the grated ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and whole cloves and let them warm through for a minute so the spices open up.
    Paso 2
  3. Stew the apples

    • Add the apple chunks and the water.
    • Stir so every piece is coated with the spiced ghee.
    • Cover and cook over low heat, stirring now and then, until the apples are soft, sweet and falling apart.
    Paso 3
  4. Finish and serve

    • Remove the whole cloves.
    • Take the pan off the heat and stir in the raw honey.
    • Serve warm, soft and grounding — this is how women were fed in winter.
