step by step

Method

  1. Make the batter

    • Whisk the flour, milk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika and baking powder in a bowl until smooth.
    • Add more milk a little at a time until the batter is as thin as a thin pancake batter, not watery.
    Step 1
  2. Prepare the broccoli

    • Rinse the broccoli and cut it into even bite-size pieces.
    • Add the broccoli to the batter and mix until every piece is well coated.
    • Stir in the panko breadcrumbs for crunch.
    Step 2
  3. Bake the broccoli

    • Preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F) and grease the baking sheet with oil.
    • Spread the coated broccoli evenly on the baking sheet so the edges crisp up.
    • Bake for about 20 minutes until golden and crispy.
    Step 3
  4. Make the bang bang sauce

    • Mix the mayonnaise, sriracha, lime juice, garlic powder and black pepper in a bowl.
    • Taste and adjust the heat to your liking.
    Step 4
  5. Coat and serve

    • Pour the sauce over the hot broccoli and toss until everything is coated.
    • Top with sliced green onion and serve immediately, before the coating softens.
