step by step

Method

  1. Brown the meat

    • Heat a large pot over medium-high heat.
    • Add the ground beef and ground Italian turkey sausage and sear on one side for 4 to 5 minutes.
    • Flip and break the meat up, then cook until browned.
    • Keep the rendered fat in the pot.
    Step 1
  2. Make the roux

    • Sprinkle the flour over the meat and stir so it coats all of the meat.
    • Cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
    Step 2
  3. Add tomato paste

    • Add the tomato paste at the bottom of the pot and spread it out.
    • Let it cook to remove the bitterness, then stir it into the meat.
    Step 3
  4. Build the flavor base

    • Add the diced onion and bell peppers and cook until softened.
    • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and garlic paste.
    • Add the beefy onion soup mix and stir.
    Step 4
  5. Create the sauce

    • Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring.
    • Simmer until thickened, adding more broth as it cooks down.
    • Season with Nature's seasoning, Cajun seasoning and Italian seasoning.
    Step 5
  6. Cook the spaghetti

    • Bring salted water to a boil in a separate pot.
    • Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, without breaking it or adding oil.
    • Reserve some pasta water, then drain the noodles.
    Step 6
  7. Combine and finish

    • Add the cooked spaghetti to the meat sauce and toss well.
    • Add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen and emulsify the sauce.
    • Chop the parsley fine and sprinkle it over the top.
    Step 7
