step by step

Method

  1. Brown the beef

    • Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
    • Add the ground beef and let it sit undisturbed so it can brown.
    • Break the beef up into crumbles.
    Step 1
  2. Add the vegetables and seasoning

    • Toss in the mushrooms and yellow onion.
    • Season with salt, thyme, smoked paprika, black pepper and fresh garlic.
    • Keep cooking until all the water evaporates.
    Step 2
  3. Thicken with flour

    • Sprinkle in the flour and stir to coat.
    • Sauté for a minute to remove the raw flour taste.
    Step 3
  4. Build the sauce

    • Slowly pour in the beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pan.
    • Let the sauce simmer and thicken.
    • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce and Dijon mustard.
    Step 4
  5. Add the noodles

    • Add the undercooked egg noodles to the sauce.
    • Cook briefly so they absorb all of the flavor.
    Step 5
  6. Finish with sour cream

    • Turn off the heat.
    • Stir in the sour cream until smooth and creamy.
    • Serve immediately.
