step by step

Method

  1. Prep the bread, paper and cheese

    • Grab the bread, the wrapping paper and the cheese first, in that order.
    • Keep everything within reach before the meat and vegetables go on the grill.
    Step 1
  2. Toast the bread

    • Place the bread on the grill to warm each side.
    • Flip the bread after about 15 seconds per side.
    Step 2
  3. Cook the peppers and onions

    • Throw the peppers and onions onto the grill.
    • Spread them out so they cook evenly.
    Step 3
  4. Add the steak

    • Grab the steak with the tongs to avoid cross-contamination.
    • Lay the steak on the grill next to the vegetables.
    Step 4
  5. Flip and season

    • Flip the steak once it has sat on the grill.
    • Sprinkle salt over the steak.
    • Flip the bread as well.
    Step 5
  6. Chop the steak

    • Chop the steak four times, then flip it.
    • Chop four more times and flip again, for a total of sixteen chops.
    • Mix the onions and peppers into the meat before repeating.
    Step 6
  7. Melt the cheese

    • Take the bread off the grill.
    • Throw the cheese over the meat and chop it lightly to make holes in the cheese.
    • Wait until the corners are fully melted.
    Step 7
  8. Fill and wrap the sub

    • Scoop the meat, cheese and vegetables up with the spatula and place them in the bread.
    • Hold the bread in your left hand and set the filling on it.
    • Wrap the sandwich with the paper, keeping the sandwich facing towards you.
    Step 8
