step by step

Method

  1. Insert the central dowel

    • Take the bottom tier of the cake.
    • Push the wooden dowel straight down into the centre of the bottom tier.
    Step 1
  2. Add the boba straw supports

    • Insert boba straws around the central dowel, spacing them evenly.
    • Use more straws for a heavier top tier and fewer for a lighter one.
    Step 2
  3. Mark and cut the straws

    • Wiggle each straw slightly so the buttercream marks the height of the bottom tier.
    • Cut each straw at the mark.
    Step 3
  4. Push the straws down

    • Push each cut piece of straw all the way down to the bottom of the cake.
    Step 4
  5. Add buttercream on top

    • Spread a little buttercream on top of the bottom tier to help the top tier stick.
    Step 5
  6. Place the top tier

    • Flip the top tier onto your hand.
    • Remove the supporting cake board used while frosting.
    • Place the top tier on the bottom tier, making sure it is centred.
    Step 6
  7. Seamless finish

    • Take a little buttercream on your finger.
    • Smooth it around the join between the two tiers to achieve a seamless look.
