Préparation

  1. Brown the butter

    • Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
    • Cook until lightly browned and fragrant, then let it cool slightly.
    Étape 1
  2. Make the cookie dough

    • Cream the browned butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until fluffy.
    • Beat in the egg until well combined.
    • Stir in the flour and baking powder until just mixed, then fold in the chocolate chips.
    Étape 2
  3. Shape the fries

    • Turn the dough out onto parchment paper and shape or roll it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick.
    • Slice into thin sticks the size of French fries.
    Étape 3
  4. Chill the fries

    • Place the shaped fries in the freezer (or fridge) so they keep their shape and spread less.
    Étape 4
  5. Bake

    • Preheat the oven to 175 °C.
    • Arrange the chilled cookie fries on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake until the edges are lightly golden but the centers stay soft.
    Étape 5
  6. Cool and serve

    • Let the fries cool slightly; they firm up as they rest.
    • Serve warm with a dipping sauce such as Nutella, caramel or strawberry jam.
