step by step

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer

    • Preheat the air fryer to 160 °C.
    Step 1
  2. Make the cake batter

    • Whisk the egg and sugar in a bowl until pale and slightly fluffy.
    • Add the milk, oil and white vinegar and whisk until combined.
    • Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt, then mix just until smooth.
    Step 2
  3. Bake the cake

    • Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and cover the pan with foil.
    • Bake at 160 °C; the edges cook first, so extend the time if needed and check doneness with a toothpick.
    Step 3
  4. Cook the chocolate ganache

    • Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, salt and cornstarch in a saucepan.
    • Whisk in the milk and cook over medium heat, stirring, until thick and glossy.
    • Remove from the heat and stir in the butter until melted.
    Step 4
  5. Finish the cake

    • Let the cake cool slightly, then pour the warm ganache over the top.
    • Spread evenly and let set before slicing.
    Step 5
