Method
- Step 1
Preheat the oven
- Preheat the oven to 175 °C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Step 2
Whisk butter and sugars
- In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until combined.
- Step 3
Add egg and vanilla
- Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- Step 4
Mix in the dry ingredients
- Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Mix with a spatula until just combined.
- Step 5
Fold in the chocolate and M&Ms
- Fold in the chopped chocolate and Christmas M&Ms.
- Step 6
Chill the dough
- Cover the dough and chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours, or up to overnight.
- Step 7
Shape the cookies
- Scoop the dough into 12–14 equal portions and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
- Dip the tops of the cookies into Christmas M&Ms before baking.

Bake
- Bake for 9–12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the centres are still slightly soft.

Cool
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5–10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
