step by step

Method

  1. Chill the Nutella

    • Spoon small mounds of Nutella onto a lined tray or plate.
    • Freeze until firm so they are easy to wrap in dough.
    Step 1
  2. Make the cookie dough

    • Cream the softened butter with the brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
    • Whisk the flour, baking soda and salt together, then mix into the wet ingredients until just combined.
    • Fold in the chocolate chips.
    Step 2
  3. Stuff the cookies

    • Take a portion of dough, flatten it in your palm and place a frozen Nutella mound in the centre.
    • Seal the dough around the Nutella and roll into a ball, making sure there are no gaps.
    Step 3
  4. Chill the dough balls

    • Place the stuffed dough balls on a tray and refrigerate so they hold their shape while baking.
    Step 4
  5. Bake

    • Preheat the oven to 180 °C and space the dough balls on a lined baking tray.
    • Bake until the edges are set but the centres are still soft.
    Step 5
  6. Cool and serve

    • Let the cookies cool on the tray for a few minutes so the filling sets slightly.
    • Transfer to a rack and serve while still warm.
    Step 6
