step by step

Method

  1. Make the cake batter

    • In a large mixing bowl, mix the cake mix, eggs, water and oil until well combined.
    • Transfer the batter to a greased square baking pan.

  2. Bake the cake

    • Bake at 180 °C, covering with foil halfway through.
    • Bake until a skewer comes out clean.

  3. Cool and cut out the mini cake

    • Allow the cake to cool completely.
    • Press a greased ramekin into the center and twist to remove.
    • Let the mini cake slide out of the ramekin.

  4. Create two layers

    • Slice through the center of the mini cake to create 2 layers.
    • Place the bottom layer back in the ramekin.

  5. Frost and decorate

    • Top the bottom layer with a layer of frosting.
    • Add the top layer of cake and spread another layer of frosting evenly to the edges.
    • Cover in rainbow nonpareils.

  6. Chill and serve

    • Allow to chill and slightly harden in the fridge.
    • Take a center bite and enjoy.
