Method

  1. Make the basketballs

    • Cover the top of the cupcakes with orange sprinkles to mimic the basketball leather texture.
    • Use a pretzel stick to press an indentation between the sprinkles and the buttercream.
    Step 1
  2. Add the basketball lines

    • Pipe dark buttercream along the indentations to draw the lines of the basketball.
    Step 2
  3. Trace the jersey

    • Place a jersey cut-out (Steph Curry, Golden State Warriors) on the parchment paper.
    • Trace the jersey with yellow buttercream, including the number and the name on the back.
    • Finish with the bluish purple buttercream color.
    • Smooth all of the buttercream out before laying the cupcakes on top.
    Step 3
  4. Assemble the pull-apart

    • Place all the cupcakes on top of the traced jersey in a neat, even order.
    • Leave as little excess space as possible so each cupcake gets the same amount of buttercream.
    Step 4
  5. Chill and flip

    • Place the whole thing in the fridge and let it solidify.
    • Flip it over and remove the parchment paper to reveal the jersey.
