step by step

Method

  1. Soak the navy beans

    • Divide the navy beans between bowls, about a pound per bowl.
    • Cover each portion with water so the beans are submerged and soak evenly.
    • Let the beans soak until they have absorbed the water and plumped up.
    Step 1
  2. Cook the beans in the pressure cooker

    • Drain the soaked beans and add them to the pressure cooker with fresh water.
    • Cook each portion separately so they cook evenly and turn out the same.
    • Cook on high pressure, then let the pressure release naturally.
    Step 2
  3. Portion the cooked beans

    • Drain the cooked beans and let them cool.
    • Set aside a portion for the shakes and freeze the rest for smoothies, meals and baking.
    Step 3
  4. Blend the pumpkin pie beanie shake

    • Add the cooked navy beans, pumpkin purée, milk, banana, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice and vanilla to the blender.
    • Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
    • Pour into glasses and serve cold.
