step by step

Method

  1. Crack the round end of each egg

    • Tap the bigger, round end of each egg on a flat surface, not the pointy end.
    • Tap gently until you hear the membrane pop — the shell should stay intact.
    • If the shell cracks, you are hitting too hard or on the wrong end.
    Step 1
  2. Load the Instant Pot

    • Place all the eggs directly in the bottom of the pot, without the metal trivet.
    • Pour the water in.
    Step 2
  3. Steam under pressure

    • Check that the pressure valve is set to sealing.
    • Steam on high pressure.
    Step 3
  4. Release the pressure

    • Let the steam release naturally.
    • Then manually release the remaining steam.
    Step 4
  5. Chill and peel

    • Pour out the hot water and cover the eggs with ice water.
    • Crack the shells and peel — they come off very easily, with or without a spoon.
